Participants are invited to submit proposals for COST Actions contributing to the scientific, technological, economic, cultural or societal knowledge advancement and development of Europe. Multi- and interdisciplinary proposals are encouraged.

The next COST Actions collection date is on Thursday, 29 November 2018 at 12:00 noon (CET).

COST does NOT fund research itself, but supports networking via different tools such as meetings, short term scientific missions, training schools and dissemination activities as part of COST Actions. COST invites proposals for Actions that aim to close the gap between science, policy makers and society throughout Europe and beyond.

The minimum number of countries included in the network has increased to seven Full or Cooperating COST Members. Out of the seven, a minimum of 50% must be Inclusiveness Target Countries.

The list of COST Near Neighbour Countries includes Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Kosovo (under UNSCR 1244/1999), Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Russia, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine.

COST aims at reinforcing and supporting the participation of Non-COST Countries in COST activities, in particular COST Actions underpinning its open and global scope on the basis of ascertained mutual benefit. The participation of Near Neighbour Countries is particularly encouraged, according to the provisions related to eligibility for both participation and reimbursement set in the 'Rules for Participation of Non-COST countries and Specific Organisations' and in the COST Vademecum.

After the last collection date on 7 September 2017 a total of 39 COST Actions were approved, including 8 Actions with participants from EaP countries.
