Soon after the launch of the new WP 2018-2020 in Horizon 2020 (read the related article on our website), EaP PLUS organised its first national info day in the EaP region. The event was announced on the project website earlier, in order to ensure a broad promotion.

The information day was attended by representatives of the Georgian scientific community, research universities and scientific centers. The event agenda comprised presentations on the Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020, participation rules, legal and financial issues and various  opportunities for enhancing international cooperation for Georgian scientists.

The following speakers delivered presentations:  Dr. Béla Kardon- the Chief Scientific Officer and Mr. Ádám Dávid – international expert from the Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development (RCISD).  Dr. Teymuras Kurzchalia – research Group leader at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics.

The second session of the event focused on the SPIRE Calls (Sustainable Process Industry).  SPIRE offers an unique opportunity for the researchers in the EaP countries to participate in consortia with EU partners to prepare proposals under H2020 "Industrial Leadership" Pillar (Work Programme part 5.ii Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing and Processing), since calls under SPIRE  recommend to cooperate with partners from the EaP region "in particular". Read more about the objectives of SPIRE on the article on our website.

SPIRE was presented by the Georgian National Contact Point Ms. Natalia Shatirishvili, SPIRE National Contact Point – Ms. Marita Arabidze, whereas Dr. Jaroslaw Piekarski- National Contact Point in Poland made a presentation through a skype call. The third session was led by the Georgian national NCP coordinator Ms. Natia Gabitashvili and included a panel discussion on the recently published work programme.
