In line with the overall EaP PLUS project strategy to promote the EU – EaP dialogue and cooperation in research and innovation, the cluster support activity facilitates the transfer of the EU’s good practices in supporting clusters and strengthens the sustainable innovation cooperation between the EU and EaP countries’ clusters or cluster initiatives.
In this specific case, the Polessky State University currently aims to set up an Green Technologies and Biotech Cluster with the North-South Logistics and Transport Cluster from Gdansk, Poland.
Though some initial contacts existed earlier, the official cluster-to-cluster interaction was launched by the visit of the group of Belarusian experts headed by Prof. Konstantin Shebeko, rector of the Polessky State University to Gdansk (Poland) on December 18-21, 2017. Within the framework of the visit, the Belarusian experts got acquainted with the organizational and management structure of the partner cluster and discussed possible areas of cooperation related to setting up of an innovation cluster in Polessye.
During the stay in Poland, a working meeting was held at the WSB University of Gdańsk which is also the participant of North-South Logistics and Transport Cluster. At the meeting, the areas of mutual interest in research and innovation were discussed and the decision was achieved to organize a scientific and practical conference with the participation of Polish colleagues at Polessky State University in May 2018.
The next meeting within the cluster project will take place in Belarus tentatively in March 2018.
