In September 2018, the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus signed a grant agreement for the new Horizon 2020 project PhoG, “Sub-Poisson Photon Gun by Coherent Diffusive Photonics”. The project is coordinated by the oldest Scottish University of St. Andrews (UK) and, apart from Belarus, includes the teams from Paderborn University (Germany), Heriot-Watt University (UK), аnd the CSEM Сentre suisse d'electronique et de microtechnique (Switzerland),

PhoG is part of the new flagship of the European Commission, the FET Flagship on Quantum Technologies, that is intended to bring together a strongly networked European community in quantum communication, computing systems, simulation, metrology and sensing, as well as in fundamental research.

The partnership of the Institute of Physics team led by Dr. Dmitry Mogilevtsev in this project results from the lasting cooperation with Dr. Natalia Korolkova, School of Physics and Astronomy of the University of St. Andrews that has already proved its success by number of excellent publications. In November 2017, Dr. Korolkova took part in the EaP PLUS Diaspora Workshop on QT in Minsk organized by BelISA, jointly with the Institute of Physics (https://www.eap-plus.eu/object/news/144). The event provided the partners with an opportunity to meet each other, discuss and shape the future application which, despite of the very high competition, was supported by the European Commission and ensured the continuation of their fruitful collaboration in the coming years under the new setting.
