eap-plus.eu – STI International Cooperation Network for Eastern Partnership Countries - PLUS

Project Structure

The project 'STI International Cooperation Network for EaP Countries Plus (EaP PLUS)' aims to stimulate cooperation between researchers from the EaP countries and EU MS promoting therefore an active participation of the Eastern Partnership countries in Horizon 2020 while paving the way towards the forthcoming Framework Programme Horizon - Europe.

Building on the results of the predecessor FP7 project 'IncoNet EaP', EaP PLUS contributes to the elimination of remaining obstacles to EU-EaP STI cooperation through a number of innovative and targeted actions:

(a) strategic priority setting by supporting the EU-EaP policy dialogue and by maximizing the impact of the Association to Horizon 2020. A Conference on “Sharing Experiences from the Association” and Workshop dedicated to Programme Committee members from EaP countries have already been organized in that respect.

(b) stronger interaction between researchers & participation in H2020: Series of Info days have been organized in the EaP countries, workshops to stimulate cooperation with scientific diasporas, and grants for networking between EU and EaP researchers have been allocated;

(c) promotion of the research innovation interface supporting communities of excellence: an EU-EaP co-patenting analysis has been performed, a clustering scheme among EU and EaP clusters has been implemented and the Technology Platforms concept has been promoted in the EaP countries;

(d) enhancing optimal framework conditions and increasing coordination in policies and programmes: training seminars for high-level STI policymakers have been organized, and a study on the ways to increase coordination and synergies between policies and programmes of EU/MS and EaP (e.g. JPIs, COST, national programmes) has been performed;

(e) communication and outreach is an ongoing activity through innovative actions, including social media.

Through this coherent set of activities the output of EaP PLUS project impacts at both the policy and the operational levels, i.e. policy makers, researchers and innovation actors. In parallel, the project is in close interaction with the civil society in a two-way exchange in order to detect trends and to promote the importance of the EU – EaP STI cooperation.
